Generate a summary

Outcome
Section titled “Outcome”Your session has a structured summary in the selected mode.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”- A completed transcript.
- An installed local Ollama model for Local Mode, or a configured External API for remote processing.
- Open the session and review the transcript first.
- In the summary panel, choose the mode that fits the content: General, Meeting, Lecture, Interview, or Custom.
- Generate or regenerate the summary.
- Add session context and regenerate when the title, participants, date, or description materially changes the result.
- Review the output against the transcript before sharing or exporting it.
Expected result
Section titled “Expected result”Synthezia stores the generated summary with the session. During transcription it may show an early summary preview; a later generation can supersede that partial result.
Data boundary
Section titled “Data boundary”With External API selected, the transcript, summary instructions, and optional session context are sent to the configured endpoint instead of the local Ollama runtime.
Common problems
Section titled “Common problems”- A local model is required: use the model dialog to download it, then continue the summary action.
- The result is weak: verify the transcript and context, then choose a mode or custom prompt that matches the source material.
- The result is presented as fact: it is generated assistance, not a replacement for review.
