Microphone not captured
Symptoms
Section titled “Symptoms”Live recording or voice input cannot start, has no microphone level, or shows a microphone-related session error.
Likely causes
Section titled “Likely causes”macOS Microphone permission is denied, restricted, not yet requested, the active input-device route is not usable for the current hardware, or a saved external microphone is no longer connected.
Fast checks
Section titled “Fast checks”Open Settings and inspect the Microphone permission state. Confirm that the macOS setting allows Synthezia before retrying a new recording.
For a meeting played through Bluetooth headphones, also open Settings > Recording audio. Leave the microphone set to Automatic — Recommended or select the MacBook microphone or an available USB microphone. Synthezia avoids Bluetooth microphones automatically when another suitable input is available; it does not change your macOS default input.
Resolution
Section titled “Resolution”Request access when available, or open macOS Privacy & Security > Microphone and allow Synthezia. Start a new recording after the permission change; use the in-app reset only when you need macOS to ask again.
If the selected microphone is missing, reconnect it or select Automatic — Recommended. If the recording view says that the active microphone disconnected, stop and restart the recording instead of expecting a live microphone swap. The system-audio capture path is kept separate where possible.
Data-loss warning
Section titled “Data-loss warning”Permission reset does not delete sessions, recordings, models, or exports. Do not use Reset app data for a microphone authorization problem.
Information to collect for support
Section titled “Information to collect for support”Collect the permission state, macOS version, input-device type, exact error, whether a level meter moves, and whether the failure also affects voice input.
